MCZ Features Descriptions
MET recently completed a project for the Joint Nature Conservation Committee as part of the ongoing work to establish Marine Conservation Zones (MCZs) around the UK.
MET's role was to provide a series of 80 non-technical descriptions of the priority species and habitats that are the focus of MCZ development. The purpose of the descriptions was to provide basic biological and ecological information for MCZ stakeholders, a diverse group that included commercial fishermen, energy companies and recreational watersports enthusiasts.
The descriptions had to be concise, accurate and jargon-free but, above all, they had to bring the features to life.
The descriptions are contained in the MCZ Features Catalogue, which is available on the Natural England website.
