Juliet Burnett
Juliet announced she was going to become a marine biologist when investigating UK rockpools at the age of four.
She subsequently trained at the University of Wales, Bangor, and has worked on a number of marine research projects in the South Pacific, Belize, US Virgin islands, Indian Ocean and western Scotland.
Juliet was involved from the outset of the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) Shoals of Capricorn Programme, progressing from Research Assistant to Director for the final years of the Programme. Her role included overseeing all management, health and safety, communications and logistics of staff in remote field bases, liaison and co-ordination of visiting researchers, events management, financial management and fundraising for the programme as a whole.
She married Bill - a marine scientist and researcher on the Shoals Programme - in 2001, and they have three small sons.
Juliet is now the Community and Conservation Co-ordinator for Tonbrige School in Kent with responsibility for community outreach programmes locally and overseas, green issues and conservation initiatives such as restoring ancient orchards, pig and bee-keeping and falconry.
