Dr Bill Burnett
Bill is Head of Biology at St Paul’s School in London. He read marine biology at Newcastle University before studying for a PhD in population genetics at the University of Wales Swansea, in collaboration with Australian Institute of Marine Science, from 1991-1995. Between 1995 and 2001 he worked on a variety of projects in marine evolutionary genetics and was Sir James Knott Fellow at Newcastle University between 1998 and 2001. During this time he became involved with the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) Shoals of Capricorn programme, running a coral monitoring programme in Seychelles. In 2001 he joined the biology department at St Paul’s School, becoming Head of Department in 2007. In 2004 he lead a school diving expedition to work with Shoals Rodrigues and continues to be heavily involved with expeditions and developing the school’s sail training programme.
